Last First Kiss Post - Maree Anderson - And Giveaway!!

Have you been enjoying these first kiss scenes as much as I have? It's been so much fun having guest posts this month. In fact, I've enjoyed it so much, I'm going to do something different next month - to celebrate the release of Tomorrow Land. (Note the new blog look!) I'm thinking something post-apocalyptic and/or zombie themed. But more on that in March!

Today we have Maree Anderson, author of "Freaks of Greenfield High." Her heroine is actually a cyborg who looks just a like your everyday teenage girl on the outside.  How cool is that? I'm going to let Maree explain the rest below.

Remember - this works just like the other posts. Read the except and then enter to win. I'm giving away copies of all these authors' books as well as a $50 gift card to Amazon. Winner will be chosen February 29th.

Today's question? Who would you love to kiss? (Celebrity or boy next door!) And those of you who have boyfriends or husbands -- let's pretend they don't mind you doing it!!

Now, without further ado, here's Maree and Freaks of Greenfield High.

The Set-up:

When a covert organization intent on her as a weapon comes after her, Jay needs to find a place where she can blend in. Greenfield High seems perfect, except all the boys think she’s totally hot and keep hitting on her, and she has no idea how to handle them.

Jay’s just been partnered for Bio with ex-jock fallen from grace Tyler. She’s fascinated by him… and the feeling is entirely mutual. Unfortunately for Tyler, the thrill of scoring the hot new girl as his lab partner is marred by his reaction whenever he’s forced to dissect stuff. Last time he fainted. This time, as he watches Jay fishing round in Kermit’s stomach cavity, the result is far more humiliating. He loses his breakfast… all over the girl he so desperately wants to impress. Next stop, the guys’ bathroom to clean himself up and wish he was dead… but Jay follows him in.

The Kiss!

“You don’t know me. Why should my wellbeing concern you?”

Gah! Did the girl not understand guy-talking-to-hot-chick subtext? She was gonna make him come right out and say it.

But before he could make a complete dumbass of himself, Jay nodded slowly, like she’d finally understood what he was trying not to say.

He sagged with relief, because once he admitted how he felt about her, there was no taking it back. And if he’d read her wrong, and she wasn’t into him, wasn’t doing anything more than being “nice” to a guy she felt sorry for, he’d be gutted.

When she didn’t say anything more, he slanted her an assessing glance. But he couldn’t tell what she was thinking at all—not the merest hint.

Weird.

Tyler had become pretty good at reading people’s faces. It was a skill he’d perfected, a skill that helped him get by in this clichéd little corner of hell where the jocks and the cheer squad ruled. He knew how to get by without a bunch of peeps to watch his back. He knew when he could get away with mouthing off. Just like he knew when to shut up, suck it up and do a disappearing act. He had it down to a fine art.

The silence stretched.

Tyler’s hopes wound tight, strangling him. What was he thinking, falling for a girl he’d just met? Jeez. He was a dumbass. He’d played right into her hands. Any moment now, she’d slink back to Shawn and this whole pathetic little episode would be all over school.

Except she stayed right where she was, her whole focus on him.

There was a light in her eyes that made his gut clench—in a good way. When he inhaled, she was standing so very close that her scent curled through him. His eyelids drifted closed. And then, layered beneath her fresh, clean smell was something indefinable, something that made his heart clamor. The merest hint of strangeness.

His eyelids popped open. His gaze locked on hers.

Those remarkable eyes held his, unblinking. Unwavering.

He saw it then, got the feeling she deliberately let him see it. Jay had secrets. Just like he did. And he didn’t move at all, not a muscle, as she rose up on tiptoe to press her lips against his.

The kiss was excruciatingly gentle, a butterfly kiss, the merest brush of her lips against his before she backed off and considered him through narrowed eyes.

“What’s wrong?” he whispered.

“That must be painful.” She pressed the pad of her finger to her lips and then stroked it lightly across the spot on his chin.

She was gone as quickly and noiselessly as she’d come, leaving Tyler’s face glowing from her attentions. And his heart aglow with something else—something he’d never felt for a girl before. Something more than just a little scary.

My first kiss was when I was 14. My best friend's older brother (16) was in charge of us for our movie night. Her mom arrived to pick her up, but he was staying to watch another flick with his friends. While I waited for my always late sister, it started to rain. He let me stand under his umbrella and we got to talking about the movie. I had said something about how I wish my first kiss was as amazing as the one we saw in the movie. He bent down (I was just 5' at the time and he was a couple inches shy of 6'), and in the rain, kissed me. It was simple and perfect. He smiled at me and that was that.

My first kiss wasn't so grand. We were in his car. He leaned over and kissed me. There was no real chemistry, so it just made things real awkward.

Who I'd like to kiss? That's easy my husband of almost 11 years. He's currently away fulfilling his military obligations but I dearly miss him and his swoon worthy, knee melting, dip kisses.

My first kiss was when I was 13 with one of my best friends. We were just bored and practicing. Man that sounds horrible to say it now. I will say one thing I taught me that I don't like girls like that.

To answer the who would I like to kiss, that is a very easy question to answer, Alexander Skarsgård!

Thank you for sharing about your book I enjoyed reading about it. I've saw the book on amazon before and didn't look into it, but I really should have.

I'd love to kiss the class president from high school - he was so hot...haven't seen him in years - but the memory of his dark brown eyes sticks with me. (don't tell my husband :-)). I'm sure the class pres could never live up to my imagination!

Haha Justin Bieber is SO perfectly hot!!! But I don't steal other girls' boyfriends, plus i'm not sure it would be fun to kiss lips that have touched so many others... So, then I would have to say my 8 - yr. old long secret crush Rick C, one of my brothers friends... He has never noticed me though... :(

@The Scarlit Harlot -- OMG, that was such a really sweet thing for him to do. What a guy!

@Unknown -- yikes. If you don't get the whole stomach-swoop thing going on, it would be majorly awkward. I really hope your second kiss was everything that first one wasn't.

@Orchid -- A man in uniform, huh? Even better, a man in uniform who knows how to curl your toes! Wow. He sounds like a keeper! And I hope he's back with you soon, too. My DH used to turn up to my dance classes in his RNZAF (airforce) uniform as he'd have rushed straight from the base. That uniform.... little wonder I married him ;-)

Is it just me? Or are those word verifications getting trickier? Took me about 4 goes to get it right. I think I need coffee. STAT.

@Tiffany K -- Oh, awesome choice with Alexander! I'm fanning myself here because he's soooo gorgeous! Le sigh....
And thanks for your comment re my excerpt, too. I appreciate it!

@Kylie Frost -- hey, we all have our little secret crushes. And I hope I never meet up with mine and risk being disappointed. It's much more fun secretly imagining how he's turned out :)

@Anonymous -- You never know. He might well have noticed you but doesn't want to let on--that whole making a move on his friend's sister thing is really tricky. Fingers crossed!

If I could kiss anyone it'd have to be either Jace from Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments series or Jacian from Lisa McMann's Cryer's Cross, drool. The intensity in these two guys is amazing, and the chemistry... well lets just say i sincerely wish there are guys like them in the world somewhere!

I can't say enough how much I totally loved Freaks of Greenfield High. Maree you had best write a sequel! Who would I kiss? Why my neighbour up the street (no names)-lol.

@Roma, I totally agree that Jace is hot. And I will definitely have to read Cryers Cross and check out Jacian -- thanks so much for the recommendation!

@Alba, wow that guy has guts! He really took a huge risk... and it paid off because you still remember it. There's a story there, for sure!

@Renee, Hiya! Thanks so much for dropping by :) Sexy neighbor, huh? I could only wish! But one of my plumbers is rather yummy. And far to young for me, unfortunately. Sigh....
