Welcome to
YA Scavenger Hunt! This tri-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give
readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite
authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes! At this hunt, you not only get
access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt.
Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will
receive one signed book from each author on the hunt in my team! But
play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be
online for 72 hours!
Go
to the YA Scavenger
Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are TWO contests going on
simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the BLUE
TEAM–but there is also a red team for a chance to win a whole different set of
signed books!
If
you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors
participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt

HUNT POST
This year I am hosting the lovely Kay Honeyman, fellow Texan and author of the Fire Horse Girl. And she created a really cool infographic for the book for her special content! Check it out below.
Kay Honeyman grew up in Fort Worth,
Texas and attended Baylor University, graduating with a Bachelors and Masters
in English Language and Literature. Her first novel, The Fire Horse Girl, comes
out in January 2013. It is being published by Arthur A. Levine/Scholastic. She
currently teaches middle school and lives in Dallas, Texas.
Jade Moon is a Fire Horse -- the worst sign in the Chinese
zodiac for girls, said to make them stubborn, willful, and far too imaginative.
But while her family despairs of marrying her off, she has a passionate heart
and powerful dreams, and wants only to find a way to make them come true.
Then
a young man named Sterling Promise comes to their village to offer Jade Moon
and her father a chance to go to America. While Sterling Promise's smooth
manners couldn't be more different from her own impulsive nature, Jade Moon
falls in love with him on the long voyage. But America in 1923 doesn't want to
admit many Chinese, and when they are detained at Angel Island, the "Ellis
Island of the West," she discovers a betrayal that destroys all her
dreams. To get into America, much less survive there, Jade Moon will have to
use all her stubbornness and will to break a new path . . . one as brave and
dangerous as only a Fire Horse girl can imagine.
Pretty cool, huh? Now I want my own.
And don’t
forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of signed books by me, Kay
Honeyman, and more! To enter, you need to know that my favorite number is 7. Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on
the blue team and you’ll have all the secret code to enter for the
grand prize!

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Firelight by Sophie Jordan. It's different and I like that.
ReplyDeleteThe Firelight Series by Sophie Jordan, The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini, and although the dragons aren't the main characters, I've LOVED the Firebringer Trilogy since I was in 2nd or 3rd grade.
ReplyDeleteI love Sophie Jordan's Firelight series.
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones.
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with Eragon but your book is now on my must read list
ReplyDeleteI don't watch a whole lot of dragon stuff, but Evanescent by Wendy Chartier and Sara V Zook is REALLY good!
ReplyDeleteOooh... well, for animated, I'm tied in my head with old school Puff the Magic Dragon and How to Train Your Dragon. For live-action (with CGI, obviously LOL), I LOVED Reign of Fire.
ReplyDeleteBut I also really enjoyed the book Eragon.
I think my first favorite has to be Dragonheart, so I have to go with that one. But there are so many others that are great too.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Eragon, but now I'm a huge fan of the Khaleesi!
ReplyDeleteI loved The Inheritance Series! But I just started to watch Game of Thrones…. so it might be hard to chose now.

ReplyDeleteI just love Eragon, so that is my choice.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up, the first movies I ever loved with dragons were Puff the Magic Dragon and A Neverending Story (yeah, I'm old ;)). However, my favorite books with dragons (also my favorite all-time series, period) are definitely the Song of Ice and Fire books by GRRM. Not the TV show - which I've never seen - but the BOOKS, of which I've been a rabid fan since the first one came out!! So, as might be obvious, I would LOVE to win this figurine!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Dragon Heir as a part of the Heir Series by Cinda Williams Chima.

I've seen all the episodes 3-4 times each by now... the obsession runs deep) & I have been looking for the Daenarys POP figure for a few weeks now, everywhere around me that sells the figures never have her! How To Train Your Dragon is my favorite dragon animated movie.
